Dental Crowns Treatment in Burnaby, BC

Modern, natural-looking dental crowns

While many small cavities can be treated with just a filling, more advanced treatment may be needed to stymie decay and set your oral health on the right track. In these instances, dental crown treatment might be a great option.

Dental crowns replace the look and function of your natural tooth with a tooth-colored porcelain restoration. They can be used in conjunction with a filling, root canal, or dental implant to ensure that your tooth is saved and your mouth is healthy.

At Burnaby Dental Centre, we’ll work with you and ensure that a dental crown is the best treatment option given your unique situation.

Dental crowns can help fix…

  • Badly discolored, worn down, or chipped teeth
  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • Severely decayed teeth
  • As the final step of a root canal or dental implant treatment

Dental crowns treatment process at Burnaby Dental Centre

At Burnaby Dental Centre, we always do all we can to make sure that you have a positive experience at the dentist and are as healthy as can be. We begin all dental crown consultations by discussing with you what you’re experiencing and reviewing your oral health history. We’ll then conduct a comprehensive exam, take any necessary x-rays and pictures, and answer all of your questions.

Once we get an idea of what you’re experiencing and the state of your oral health, we’ll then discuss your treatment options.

Dental Crowns Process

  1. We’ll always make sure that a dental crown is the best option for you to save your tooth and maintain optimal oral health.
  2. We’ll take a digital scan of your teeth to ensure your new dental crown fits in perfectly with the rest of your smile.
  3. This mold is sent to our lab, where a custom crown is created based on the mold and your exact tooth shade. If necessary, depending on any other treatments, we’ll place a temporary crown during this stage.
  4. Once the custom crown is prepared (usually about 2 weeks), we’ll fit and place your crown.

Dental Crowns FAQ

How often do crowns need to be replaced?

If cared for properly, dental crowns can last 10-15 years. They can last even longer if staying on top of preventive and restorative care and brushing and flossing the recommended amount.

How should I care for my crown?

Care for crowns as you would any other tooth in your mouth by brushing twice and flossing once a day. We also recommend coming to twice-yearly cleanings and exams.
